Some days you just need to bring in the big guns! The Peanut Butter, Cacao and Banana smoothie is definitely one of my favourite combinations. Peanut butter not only provides a creamy rich texture but is an easy way to add some protein to your smoothie. Cacao powder is an unprocessed version of the cacao bean and is one of the highest plant-based sources of magnesium which helps keep your heart healthy and turns glucose into a usable form of energy for your body. Finally, the good old faithful banana adds some natural sweetness to balance out the other ingredients and gives you a hit of potassium and vitamin B to keep you fighting fit!

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 heaped tbsp of 100% pure peanut butter (Note: not all peanut butter is made equal, make sure you check the label – there should only be one ingredient and that is peanuts, I use Mayvers or Pic’s)
  • 1 level tbsp of pure Cacao powder (Note: again it is important that you get 100% pure unprocessed Cacao powder to reap the benefits of this superfood)
  • 1 cup of milk (your milk of choice: coconut, almond, cows).

Method:

This one is super easy! Just add all ingredients into a blender and blend on high for about 1 minute or until all ingredients are combined. Serve and enjoy.
